The National Information, Communication and Education Program (NICEP)is an ICT policy intervention by the Federal Government targeted at the realization of its e-governance and Millennium Development Goals objectives. This intervention is designed to provide the benefits of ICT to all areas of the country particularly hard-to-reach areas and underserved communities through the deployment of 5000 VSAT nodes all around the country.
The NICEP infrastructure will support the entire spectrum of ICT services to Government MDAs and will be connected directly to the Government Data Center in Abuja. Galaxy Backbone Plc, as a result of its mandate, has inherited the NICEP project and will deploy it in collaboration with other stakeholders- Federal Government MDAs, State and Local Governments, solutions partners and funding agencies.
